Mental Health for the Internet Generation
Creators, influencers, gamers, doomscrollers, memelords, e-girls, etc.
Our country has undergone a huge cultural shift over the last two decades. According to Pew Research, 31% of Americans are online constantly. 20M+ Americans could be considered influencers, creators, or heavy gamers.
Whether you’re a run-of-the-mill screen addict (like me) or a famous Twitch streamer, a large portion of the U.S. live their entire lives on the internet.
For this very real distinct demographic, this lifestyle (living on the internet) comes with a whole host of mental health risks and issues - that aren’t being addressed.
Screen addiction, cyberbullying, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, loneliness, depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal thoughts, compulsive gaming, porn addiction, and social isolation are all side effects caused by technology overuse.
In fact, there is a growing body of evidence that the rise of mental health issues among the youth has been attributed to technology overuse. The Surgeon General raised the alarm very recently as well.
ScreenFree Health is the only company addressing this issue and has tapped GIMBHI as an official advisor.
